Bare Life

September 10, 2022 - November 5, 2022

WHAT
While interested in painting in his youth, respected Hong Kong veteran artist, Chu Hing Wah, actually chose to become a psychiatric nurse at the time, which led to concurrent professional and artistic developments that are apparent in his works. At 87 years old, his newest ink exhibition comprises paintings that were made in the past few years. The captivating works embody elements of surrealism and symbolism, revealing his deep understanding of human psychology, but also his love of life and empathy for the city that he calls home.

WHY
Chu is one of Hong Kong’s most respected artists. Having seen first-hand how Hong Kong has evolved, developed, and progressed through the years, his works are a subtle documentation of the changes the city has seen, through both good and bad times. Focusing on his profound fondness of life and especially of Hong Kong and its grassroots, this is a must-see exhibition for all enthusiasts of Hong Kong art and culture.
