Painting with History in a Room Filled with People with Funny Names 3
The Thai artist is known for his works that encompass sculpture, film, performance, and painting. For this presentation, he has created an immersive experience adapted to the exhibition space. The video installation is the 4th instalment in a series that the artist began creating in 2012. It explores the co-existence of humans, machines, and spirits in 21st-century Bangkok, where animistic beliefs and the desire for modernization both prevail.
The installation offers a unique opportunity to explore the confluence of myriad subjects from history, geopolitics to the cultural impact of globalisation, while delving into the notion of self-representation as well as questioning one’s existence.
