WHAT
The first solo exhibition of the Paris and Johannesburg-based American artist in Hong Kong showcases a selection of recent paintings and drawings created over the past two years, centred around the theme of memory. Drawing inspiration from Yukio Mishima’s novel, ‘The Temple of Dawn’, the artist constructs fantastical landscapes filled with people in states of transfiguration, caught up in scenes that oscillate between beauty, violence, intimacy, profanity, and pleasure.

The exhibition explores the profound significance of memory in shaping human motivations, including beauty, love, death, adoration, and empathy. It invites viewers to engage with the artist’s personal experiences and emotions. The artist’s work also advocates for a deeper understanding beyond visibility, particularly in terms of representing queerness.
