WHAT
Born and raised in China, the artist has taken many influences from the world around him, focusing specifically on nature. His second solo exhibition in Mainland China is a series of works from 2021 to 2022, inspired by nature and the universe. He focuses on themes such as the inevitability of fate and the inexplicable link between the individual and the universe. In a time when the universe seems to be in entire misalignment and disarray, the artist uses his paintings as channels for extracting some understanding.

WHY
Chen focuses on nature as well as accomplishments that are borderless, such as the new images of space that were revealed in July 2022 from the James Webb Space Telescope. He tries to find meaning in the universe by observing the connections between individuals and the universe, looking specifically for positivity from the past few years. From observing the beauty of nature to focusing on the potential purity and possibility of the universe, his paintings project a semblance of reassurance.
