Forever is composed of Nows
WHAT
The New York-based artist’s first solo exhibition in China features recent works of an LED light installation, pastel on paper, watercolour drawing, and Pantone swatches with pencil on paper. The works are each a chronicle of a journey, often being of an interaction between the artist and nature. Examples of this are the exploration of a cloud’s opacity and the tracing of a bee’s flight pattern when pollinating flowers.
WHY
The exhibition’s title comes from a book of poems by Emily Dickinson. It reflects the fact that even though each work captures a specific moment, the combined works are all part of a whole. The showcase is a record of the artist’s experiments, as he challenges himself to capture inexpressible experiences using everyday materials.
