Erik Lindman
WHAT
The American artist’s eighth solo exhibition with the gallery is a showcase of his mastery over textured materials, from found sheet metal and plywood to fabrics and glass beads. Be they streaks of colour, pieces of fabric, a rubbing of a fish scale, patterned ribbons, or stucco, he skillfully manipulates the materials so that each component of a piece is in harmony and yields to the work itself. In this manner, the artist is able to produce works that show colour in three dimensions instead of just two.
WHY
Texture gives colour life by rendering life to shapes that trap and mirror light. In the exhibition, the artist perfects the smallest details of texture. He is a veteran at this, as many of his past works have utilised sheet metal, plywood, and glass beads as mediums. Audiences are sure to appreciate the artist’s attention to detail in his showcase of textured works.
