Playing with Color
WHAT
A visionary American artist whose paintings and sculptures blurred the boundaries between two- and three-dimensions, the late artist (1948-1999)’s works from the mid-1970s to the late 1980s are presented at the gallery for the first time in Asia. This exhibition demonstrates Taylor’s transition from painting on canvas to making the three-dimensional constructions for which he became known.
WHY
You’ll be struck by Taylor’s canny use of colour across media, his idiosyncratic thinking, his methodology, and also his playful sense of humour that shines through his works! The selection of his early paintings showcases his abstract compositions, as well as his bold and playfulness juxtapositions of styles and unconventional materials. Come see how the artist became known for his consistent and unwavering experimental freedom, with his sense of play with colour, form, and medium.
