Yin Xiuzhen: Sky Patch

October 31, 2020 - April 11, 2021

WHAT WE KNOW

Yin Xiuzhen was born in Beijing in 1963. Being a Chinese sculptor and installation artist, she often uses old objects and garments from her childhood in her art, rearranging and reassembling them in installations to forge a connection between memory and cultural identity. Yin’s art explores diversified themes of the past and present, memory, globalisation and homogenisation.

WHY WE LOVE IT

This is Yin’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong, and the exhibition space was personally designed by the artist herself. With a special spatial installation Sky Patch, we are prompted to follow an unconventional route for a novel visiting experience. In addition to her iconic textile-based installations, a number of past photography works and a new series of video works are also showcased, making this a truly immersive multi-media presentation.
