The Reflective Memories

January 11, 2023 - April 11, 2023

WHAT
Chinese artist Fan Wu, and Korean Mi-Kyoung Lee both position themselves as fibre artists, creating works with fibre materials and fibre art language. Their artworks in this exhibition employ natural elements to reproduce their personal perceptions and memories of the objective world. While Wu’s works are mostly characterised by plant form and installation form, with simple romance and calm elegance, Lee’s works generate strong visual tension with vibrant colours and unusual shapes.

WHY
This is the biggest-scale fibre art exhibition held by the museum so far. It comprehensively showcases the creative works of the two female artists over the past decade. The purpose of this exhibition is to explore how the artists consider the relationship between memory and the present through fibre art. The natural elements serve as a medium for the artists to convey the emotions deposited in the memory into positive reflections on society and nature, reality and spirituality, past and future.
