WHAT
Spanning 6 centuries of art, the exhibition features a selection of 70 paintings from the collection of Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza (Madrid). Bringing together the works of many great masters, the exhibition presents a wide range of painting styles and genres from different eras, such as Renaissance Portraiture, the Golden Age of Painting in the Netherlands, Vedutismo, French Realism, Impressionism, Expressionism, Cubism, Pop Art, Abstract Art, Russian Avant-garde, and American Realism. The museum is known as one-third of the ‘Golden Triangle of Art’ in Madrid, which also includes the Prado and the Reina Sofía national galleries.

WHY
This is the first time that the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza of Madrid has presented its collections in China, thus marking the first large-scale overseas exhibition since its establishment. The highlights present a spectacular view of Western art from the Renaissance to Post-War European and American Art, leading viewers to gain insights into how the lifestyles and social landscape of the Western world have evolved over the past six hundred years.
