WHAT
After making its debut in Hong Kong in 2014, L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, has made its permanent home at K11 MUSEA, and aims to share its knowledge to a large and varied audience through classes, talks and exhibitions. As its first exhibition, the presentation of over 50 pieces derive from the Mengdiexuan Collection, owned by jewelry collector Ms. Betty Lo. Tracing the history of jewelry and goldsmithing in China over the past 3,000 years, it showcases various techniques used.

Whether you’re a connoisseur of jewelry, or simply curious about age-old practices of one of the world’s most precious metals, you’re invited to learn about jewelry-making, the world of precious metals, as well as the supernatural symbolism of gold. The exhibition covers 4 major techniques used in gold: hammering and chasing, casting, granulation, wire and filigree. The beautiful necklaces, bracelets, earrings, hairpins, brooches, and belt plaques will enthral audiences young and old alike.
