WHAT
Born in the United States, having studied in Florida, and currently based in New York, this is Swansea’s second solo exhibition with the gallery. The exhibition features a multitude of new paintings, which are vibrant and masterfully rendered by the artist. The title of the exhibition refers to the slip into normal times from a global pandemic, and how the shift back does not always necessarily feel easy or simple. Each of her paintings contains a vivid image of a natural landscape but with no clear way to interpret it, leaving the meaning up to the viewer.

WHY
Characterised by their ambiguity, Swansea’s paintings do not offer a specific narrative, therefore allowing flexibility for the viewer in their perception of them. They unveil the everchanging state of our moment, the dense landscapes in her work revealing traces of human life and whispers of sly humour, which hint at the optimism through which she views the future; the enjoyment of the ethereal and spectral figures is apparent throughout this body of work.
