shivering glow, I shiver and glow
WHAT
The Hong Kong artist (b.1987) grew up in the New Territories, where he spent the majority of his childhood in the greenery of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Surrounded by the woods, he was always alone and enjoyed observing the movements of trees as well as taking care of his plants at home. As his career took off, he has since moved from a leaky rooftop studio to a proper artist studio. The drastic change in lifestyle has resulted in moments of melancholia, which the artist now expresses through his explorations of light and shadow to echoe his innermost feelings.
WHY
As the artist shares a high degree of sensitivity towards small, almost unnoticeable scenes, everyday mundane objects easily became sources of his boundless artistry. To him, painting is a way of recording certain moments in life. With the dancing between darkness and light always being present, this is an exhibition where viewers’ visual experiences are exemplified.
