WHAT
The gallery exhibition is a group presentation of four female artists – Huang Dan, Nina Pryde, Peng Wei, and Zhang Yanzi – who capture what it means to be a woman. All four artists have long been represented by the gallery, but this is the first time they have come together in a show that exemplifies their qualities and perspectives in art as women. The exhibition explores the multiple layers that constitute a woman’s identity, experiences, emotions, and points of view. There are themes rooted in the contemporary ink aesthetic, with mediums of animation, collage, and ink on paper.

WHY
The exhibition’s title comes from a quote in Book IV of the Roman poet, Virgil’s ‘The Aeneid’, which states the word ‘woman’ is constantly changeable. The exhibition explores this ever-changing definition, as well as society’s perceptions, judgements, and limitations they have passed on women. Female audiences are especially sure to feel empowered after viewing each of the artist’s takes on the female experience and identity.
