WHAT
The New York-based contemporary artist (b. 1961) is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, but was raised in Thailand, Ethiopia, and Canada. He is known for his conceptual performances and installations that often invite audience participation and aim to create a sense of community. His first show since being represented by the gallery, the works in this exhibition are inspired by Chinese author, Liu Cixin’s acclaimed ‘Remembrance of Earth’s Past’ science-fiction trilogy, one of the most successful Chinese book series.

WHY
This is the artist’s first solo exhibition since the announcement that he would be working with the gallery. In May 2021, his seminal early work, ‘untitled 1990 (pad thai)’, was featured in ‘The Real World’, a group exhibition at the gallery’s Hong Kong location; this follow-up solo exhibition will give audiences a much deeper understanding of his practice.
