Reminiscences

August 12, 2023 - September 9, 2023

WHAT
The two contemporary Hong Kong artists explore the relationship between people and the city. Their works express urban conditions as well as their personal feelings about living in the city. Leung’s works are rooted in reality while keeping a self-conscious spirituality knitted into his abstract subjects. Meanwhile, Kwong transforms old local maps into shapes of a new and imaginary land. His art is a process of rebirth and reconciliation with one’s unknown self.

WHY
Leung personally believes that art is a meaningful way to spread different values and perspectives in order to bind communities together. In the meantime, Kwong believes that finding ‘Elysium’ – the concept of a happy afterlife reserved only for gods and heroes in Greek mythology – is a universal desire, which he expresses in an abstract, contemporary manner.
