WHAT

In his newest exhibition, New York-based Swiss artist, Nicolas Party, focuses his choice medium of figurative painting on the five elements of the material world: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. The show takes these five elements and crafts the connection between the complexities of nature and its inextricable ties to humanity. 

WHY

Crowd-favourite Party poses questions about humanity and nature’s link. In Chinese philosophy, there is a theory that the five elements describe all the interactions and relationships between everything and that they are the fundamental elements of everything in the universe. The viewer gets a chance to approach this from the artist’s perspective, acknowledging not only the connection between humanity and nature, but also understanding own’s own perspective.
