WHAT
The Hong Kong artist and photographer’s exhibition is a presentation of ink and ceramic pieces depicting sea animals. It is meant to call to mind the simpler lives of those who live as one with the sea. Searching for the type of freedom that comes from being in the present moment – such as a fisherman as he observes the tide, the artist draws figures that are full of life and creates ceramics that evoke a single moment of contemplation – the same contemplation that fishermen have when they trust the sea to bring them their catch.
WHY
Growing up in Sai Kung, the artist experienced firsthand the juxtaposition between the two very different lifestyles of Hong Kong – the slow pace of the rural areas and the hustle bustle of the city. This caused him to constantly move his mind, which in turn results in figures filled with movement. Through his works, he hopes to communicate the sense of freedom to his audience.
