Now Showing 2.0
WHAT
The exhibition follows the success of ‘Now Showing’ (2020), which was centred on the world of film. In his signature style, Chow Chun Fai explores themes in Johnny To’s films, presenting film strip oil paintings for the first time as well as ceramic pieces. Chui Pui Chee is inspired by Stephen Chow’s movies, and has recreated humourous artworks featuring classic Chinese subjects, such as the ‘hundred cranes’ and pomegranates. Frank Tang captures the essence of Studio Ghibli productions; his delicate silk paintings demonstrate his understanding of Chinese ink technique.
WHY
As a continuation of its first edition, the exhibition takes inspiration from the fictitious world of movies. Both fun and refreshing, it presents a diverse range of works across different mediums, and has something for everyone. One of the highlights of the exhibition is Chui Pui Chee’s specially-made handmade mahjong set.
