MYONGHI KANG
May 17, 2021 - October 24, 2021
WHAT WE KNOW
Born in 1947 in Taegou, South Korea, Kang arrived in France in 1972. Having grown up during the Korean war, the young artist found solace in the books and paintings of European masters as well as in the natural world; to Kang, looking at nature was a way to avoid looking at war. Further drawing her inspirations from her travels around the world, Kang’s works appeal to a universal audience.
WHY WE LOVE IT
Introspective and philosophical, the artist succeeds magnificently in rendering forms and colours that recall the natural world, including blue skies, blooming flowers, impending storms. Beautifully-presented and thoughtfully-curated, we can’t help but be drawn into the poetry of her cosmic universe.
