Megumi Shinozaki: Meridiem
WHAT
The exhibition is the Japanese artist’s first solo show in Hong Kong, an creative extension of her studio, and presents a series of around 200 brand new paper flower works all handmade by the artist, as well as a fresh flower installation composed of local flora. As the founder and creative director of edenworks, a creative studio that specialises in utilising flowers and plants to create artworks, installations, and experiences, the exhibition represents the central theme of the artist’s practice, where the flower becomes a symbolic way to explore the profound area between the temporary and the eternal.
WHY
The exhibition of paper flower works and fresh flower installations presents two contrasting approaches – one that makes use of paper to create eternal blossoms, and one that pays tribute to the ephemerality of the natural cycle of life. It provides a platform for audiences to have meaningful connections to people and nature.
