Liquid Ground
WHAT
As a collaboration between China-based UCCA Center for Contemporary Art and Hong Kong’s Para Site, the exhibition brings together thirteen emerging artists and art collectives to explore land reclamation, the entanglement between built environment and natural elements, and potential responses to planetary ecological calamity. The current exhibition is a sequel to the one held in Hong Kong last year. Click here for more information.
WHY
Curated by Alvin Li and Junyuan Feng, the exhibition was chosen from Para Site’s international open call for exhibition proposals from emerging curators and the selected works are co-commissioned by both institutions, focusing on the twin themes: hydrological cycle and island ecologies. Through unique and diverse artistic approaches, viewers will gain insight into the complex relationship between natural landscapes and humans from the perspectives of mythology, economic theories about the contemporary epistemological crisis, and non-human voices.
