Le monde comme il va

March 20 - September 2
Various Artists

WHAT
Curated by Jean-Marie Gallais, the group exhibition exclusively highlights works from the Pinault Collection, showcasing the vision of its founder, François Pinault, and the depth, vitality, and diversity of his collection. The title is borrowed from Voltaire’s philosophical tale, and the presentation throughout the museum’s various spaces features established artists such as Maurizio Cattelan, Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, and Cindy Sherman, alongside younger artists such as Anne Imhof, Mohammed Sami, Pol Taburet, and Salman Toor.

WHY
Referencing Voltaire’s philosophical tale, artists can become prophets, visionaries, and even philosophers in response to the world’s excesses and paradoxes. They are cynical and ironic, and the exhibition is a reflection of these sentiments by two different generations; the works encapsulate the era of 80s to the 90s, as well as the decade after the millennium.
