WHAT
While Chow is a well-known local visual artist, Cheung is not only the owner of the gallery but also a veteran Hong Kong journalist who started her career with the SCMP in the 1990’s. Over the span of one year, the artist interviewed the journalist about her past journalistic experiences – gaining first hand insight on significant events. This process combined with other research culminated in various paintings depicting scenes from the journalist’s stories and experiences.

WHY
In journalism, the shots to be preserved and faded out are meant to convey messages through the control of narratives. In art, using the same material but re-edited from a new angle, viewers can see how old news can be transformed from different angles. Once again, Chow captures audiences with his signature figurative style and unique sense of perspective.
