In-between Spaces

March 6 - April 12

WHO
Frank Tang, Joey Leung, Zhou Jin

WHAT
The group exhibition features a total of 12 works by three artists from the Department of Fine Arts, Chinese University of Hong Kong, where Leung and Tang were students of Zhou. Through sharing the common medium of Chinese ink, they delve into complex emotions, societal issues, and personal experiences in metaphorical ways. The presentation showcases how the artists travel in between imagined spaces, blurring the boundaries between fantasy and reality.

WHY
Leung is known for blending gongbi fine-line painting style with bright and subtle colours, painting figures, still life and a variety of subjects; Tang’s works often examine the intricate relationship between human and history, as well as urban and natural landscapes, with a particular focus on trees; Zhou is known for his portrayals of people in the modern city using swift and spontaneous brush strokes. Together, their works explore the imaginary realms that extend beyond our immediate physical surroundings, thus reconstructing our understanding of reality
