Eternal Spiral III
The contemporary artist is known for his imaginative illustrations. With paintings, sculptures, installations, drafts, and research works, his artworks incorporate elements of fantasy, mythology, nature, and the human form, creating dreamlike and surreal compositions. The exhibition marks Jean’s first major showcase in Southern China, presenting over 200 works that span his creative journey of over 20 years.
The catalogue, ‘Moments: Ur Days R Numbered’, is also released concurrently with the exhibition, providing a comprehensive survey of Jean’s print creations to date.
The artist’s visually stunning imagery is influenced by traditional Chinese scroll paintings, Japanese woodblock prints, and Renaissance masterpieces. Having graced book covers, album covers, fashion collaborations, and movie posters (such as for ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ and ‘The Shape of Water’), his art is not only versatile but familiar to audiences. Notably, the exhibition features six large-scale animated works, which allows for audience interaction to better appreciate the artist’s blend of Eastern and Western cultures, mythology, and philosophy.
