WHAT
The renowned American abstract painter and sculptor (1923-2015) is known for his groundbreaking contributions to 20th century art. The retrospective presentation is a unique opportunity is admire a comprehensive overview of artist’s works. Featuring over 100 pieces, including paintings, drawings, photographs, and collages, the exhibition is organised in collaboration with Glenstone Museum (Maryland, USA) and the Ellsworth Kelly Studio.
WHY
Kelly redefined abstraction by drawing inspiration from his environment to create pure, often brightly-coloured forms. His works are marked by their intensity, balance, and paradoxical sensuality. Notable works in the exhibition include ‘Yellow Curve’ (1990), the artist’s first large-scale floor painting, displayed over 60 square metres for the first time in Europe since the 90’s. The exhibition aims to highlight artist’s relentless investigation of perception and his unique approach to shape, colour, line, and space.
