WHAT
The Korean-born LA-based artist’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong is a presentation of 12 of his most recent paintings, where he strives to highlight the hopes and essence of his subjects. He primarily focused on painting portraits of people around him, acutely capturing their identity and aspirations in immense detail. These subjects range from friends, lovers, colleagues, and even strangers, and each of them as well as their most profound dreams come to life on the artist’s canvases.

WHY
Through the artist’s meticulous brushstrokes and mastery of colour, the uniqueness and depth in his subjects are revealed, which are in turn metaphors for his own experiences. The series becomes a collection of his own experiences, and of his own identity. He is a collector of dreams, offering a peek into the dreams of his subjects as well as the collective experience of identity.
