Daily Practice
WHAT WE KNOW
Born in 1956 in Fujian, Yeung Tong Lung moved to Hong Kong in 1973 and began painting in his late teens. He refers to his craft as a ‘daily practice’ based on his everyday observations of the world around him. Although he has explored multiple styles of painting, this ‘daily practice’ is a ritual for him and an essential part of his creative process.
WHY WE LOVE IT
The exhibition consists of Yeung’s most recent works over the past five years, particularly those from 2019-2020. His large-scale paintings are thought-provoking and imaginative, often toying with perspectives to create an illusion of the third dimension. He also often paints multiple scenes within one panel – some of landscape and some of interiors – as if to offer a peek into what happens behind closed doors.
