Cotton in the Ears, Furball in the Throat

February 4, 2023 - March 3, 2023

WHAT
Born in Hong Kong, this is Wong’s third solo exhibition with the gallery. In this exhibition, the artist uses a multitude of mediums to depict her observations of the connections between words, objects, and images while also discussing the themes of failure, hope, and miscommunication. All of these ideas arose during the pandemic and the combination of content and unease that existed during that time.

The exhibition runs concurrently at the gallery with ‘Journey’ by Amal Lin.

WHY
Multiple works depict images of hands. From hand-created shadow puppets to overlapping images of handwashing, this particular motif was inspired by the pandemic, specifically when keeping your hands clean was of utmost importance. Central to the theme of this exhibition is both a yearning for comfort – a sentiment that many of us experienced throughout the pandemic – and the feeling of uneasiness about being inches away from it; it is a feeling that most viewers can certainly relate to.
