Concealment and Disclosure
WHO
Renato Nicolodi
WHAT
The Belgian artist seeks to evoke a universal sacrality in his works. The solo exhibition features a combination of work on paper, a video piece, acrylic paintings on canvas, and monumental concrete sculptures. His sculptures and monochromatic paintings imagine spaces with corridors, archways, colonnades and stairs leading to closed-off passage-ways. His architectural constructions draw inspiration from various historical periods and cultures, transcending narrow definitions of styles and periods.
WHY
The artist possesses an appealing visual language. As viewers virtually traverse stairs, floors, and architectural spaces, emptiness plays a recurring role, allowing them to personally interpret and engage with the artworks. The exhibition encourages reflection on appreciating artistic qualities despite challenging historical associations.
