Clotilde Jiménez: The long run

June 6 - September 28
Clotilde Jiménez

WHAT
The young multi-disciplinary American artist (b.1990) works with ceramics, collage, painting, printmaking, and sculpture, and is known for his collage works that explore themes of movement, identity, and community. His second exhibition at the gallery builds upon his previous works, including the Official Olympic Posters series for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. His collages unify disparate elements, reflecting the fusion of community, nationality, family, and culture in athletes.

WHY
The artist views the Olympics as a unique opportunity for fostering human connection beyond differences, making this exhibition as a testament to this potential. He challenges traditional narratives of competition, emphasising solidarity and shared experiences over individual victories. His works highlight the communal infrastructure of sports, relying on cultural pride, global connection, and mutual support. The exhibition also reveals deeper societal dynamics, showing how athletes from marginalised backgrounds can become celebrated figures.
