WHAT
Celebrating the respected local artist’s 90th birthday, the retrospective features over 60 works from 1960s-2024. The exhibition presents a pictorial review of a long career dedicated to both the care of his fellows and himself. Although deeply interested in painting in his youth, the artist chose to train as a psychiatric nurse. From this time on, his professional career and his art-making developed side by side. His style and technique are moulded by the long exposure to the care of fragile mental patients. At its core, his art is a celebration of human sympathy.

WHY
Over his long painting career, the artist has mainly cast his eyes on the daily life of urban Hong Kong. With his keen sensitivity to the vulnerability of the human psyche, he finds true pleasure in the ordinary life of community and family. At 90, the artist continues to be mindful of his fellows, especially those less fortunate than himself, and makes poignant artworks about the life around him.
