Christie’s HK Spring Auction Preview 2024
WHAT
Meticulously curated by Christie’s world-class specialists, the auctions span 20th and 21st century art, Chinese ceramics and works of art, and Chinese paintings, alongside an exquisite array of luxury including jewellery, watches, handbags, and wine. Christie’s ’20th and 21st Century Art Evening Sales’ showcase a remarkable collection of iconic works that represent pivotal periods in the careers of individual artists. At the forefront is Andy Warhol’s ‘Flowers’, a masterpiece of American Pop art. Engaging in a visual dialogue, Matthew Wong’s monumental landscape painting ‘Shangri-La’ converses with Yoshitomo Nara’s ‘Rock You’ and Yayoi Kusama’s pumpkin sculpture. In the ’20th Century Day Sale,’ Sanyu’s only-known painting of a pink zebra takes center stage, followed by two abstract works by Zao Wou-ki, seamlessly blending Eastern and Western cultural influences.
