Carole Benzaken

Carole Benzaken

WHAT
The French artist is known for developing pictorial work that challenges the status of the image, as well as its representation and perception both in the space of the painting and outside it. The exhibition is the 8th edition of the museum’s ‘Unexpected Dialogues’ series, and is a presentation of works by the artist that verge on the boundary between figuration and abstraction, where images of the tree develop rhizomatically upon different media.

WHY
The artist constantly tries novel approaches with the use of new media and techniques that make use of three-dimensional space. The selection of works resonates with other works in the museum, including medieval illuminations as well as the paintings of Claude Monet. For the first time, the museum has also given the artist carte blanche to use the other spaces in the venue, from the ground floor to the first floor.
