WHAT
Founded in 2015, Art Central plays host to over 100 different innovative art galleries from around the world to showcase the forefront of contemporary art, through a variety of mediums ranging from paintings, sculptures to digital media. As the major satellite art fair taking place alongside Art Basel Hong Kong, there are also educational talks in partnership with Asia Society Hong Kong Center, where a variety of topics are discussed. The engaging programme features artists, curators, collectors, writers, publishers, and critics. Similar to last year’s setup, the fair takes place at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, a short hop away from Art Basel.

WHY
To complement Art Basel, Art Central is perfect for those who appreciate contemporary art in a wide variety of forms and mediums. Showcasing younger galleries and up-and-coming artists both locally and internationally, it offers a great opportunity for new and seasoned collectors alike to discover new talent in the contemporary art scene. Due to the pandemic, the scaled-down size means that the fair will also take place at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre – just a stone’s throw away from Art Basel. In addition, don’t forget to see the Sovereign Asian Art Prize Finalist Exhibition, also on view at the fair.
