Art Basel Hong Kong 2022
WHAT
Art Basel Hong Kong presented its first Asian edition in 2013 to complement Art Basel Basel and Art Basel Miami. As the main anchor event during Hong Kong Art Week, the fair’s Hong Kong edition features 130 international galleries in 3 sections: Galleries, Insights, and Discoveries (scaled down due to the pandemic). Highlighting modern and contemporary art from around the world, its focus is specifically on Asia. In addition, check out ‘Conversations’, where prominent members of the international art world engage in dialogues about contemporary art; and the online viewing rooms, which allow access to those unable to attend in person. Don’t forget to see the Fine Art Asia Pavilion, ‘ARTique’, which brings together six galleries specialising in historical art and antiques.

WHY
Although Art Basel is scaled down due to the pandemic, its 130 different gallery presentations nonetheless never disappoint. As one of the most prestigious art fairs of the world, explore a diverse selection of Asian and international contemporary art in the 3 different sections. We especially love the fair’s curated projects within the individual gallery booths, which delve deeper into history to focus on Asian artists from 1900 to now. The show’s large-scale installations are particularly noteworthy. This year, admire works by Hsu Yunghsu, Bingyi, GayBird, Movana Chen, Angel Hui Hoi Kiu, and Ming Fay.
