ANN CARRINGTON
WHAT
The exhibition is a comprehensive selection of the British artist’s oeuvres from the past three years, and is her first solo show in Hong Kong. Known for her large-scale sculptures and installations that explore themes of identity, history, and cultural iconography, Carrington has gained widespread recognition for her intricate and often playful sculptures made from found objects such as cutlery, buttons, and other everyday items, which she reassembles into new forms.
WHY
Featuring three new artworks by the artist that pay tribute to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, everyday objects such as silver-plated spoons, pewter tankards, and silver vases and plates are repurposed. By transforming ordinary everyday objects into extraordinary and stunningly beautiful sculptural works, the artist brings attention to, and celebrates, the everydayness of modern life that is often overlooked in the fast-paced society of mass production, ultimately challenging audiences to see these objects in a new light.
