WHAT
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of French May, the gallery’s presentation is a first solo exhibition by the French-Chinese author since being awarded the Commander of the Legion of Honour for the second time. The exhibition features works focused on landscape paintings; however, instead of portraying the reality and perspective of the scene, he pursues the changes of light, shadow, and air with various shades of ink on the rice paper. Therefore, whether it is fog, the moonlight, or the wind, the vision appears misty or hazy. The works constitute his inner world, echoing his award-winning novel ‘Soul Mountain’.

WHY
The first Chinese writer awarded the Nobel Laureate, Gao is as artistic as he is poetic. Most of the works in this exhibition were created in the last two years. In them, he portrays the inner spiritual scene as a dream or an illusion that lingers in the subconscious, and which is not limited by space and time, instead leading the viewer into a realm of contemplation.
