Journey Into Nature
WHAT
This exhibition explores many of the Shanghai-born, New York-based artist’s most iconic works, put on display in Hong Kong for the first time. Transformed into a surreal garden, the gallery’s diverse and immersive presentation showcases Fay’s artworks from the 1970s to the present day, and can be viewed as a mini retrospective. In addition to the display of artworks, a 424-page-monograph of Fay’s life and work is launched in conjunction with the exhibition.
WHY
The exhibition is like no other in its immersive quality, which is appealing to both seasoned art veterans and amateur art enthusiasts. Drawing upon on his extensive knowledge of both Eastern and Western horticulture and mythologies, Fay’s works primarily comment upon the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature. This exhibition will be especially appealing to those who saw Fay’s whimsical large-scale installation at Art Basel 2022 – a metaphor for an Edenic utopia.
