10 QUESTIONS
1) An artist whose work I would pick to hang in my living room is…
It depends on my mood. Changing artworks around you is a great way to enliven your senses and should be done regularly to awaken that which makes you see things a new way. Luckily we have more than we can hang, so it’s wonderful to switch things around.
2) My favourite museum in the world is…
The Getty Museum in Los Angeles for its indoor and outdoor experiences. The architecture by Richard Meier captures California with its sand-coloured stone walls and vast spaces, as well as its positioning on a hilltop with sweeping views, gardens and the magnificent light. It honestly brings art into another realm of experience.
3) The best exhibition I’ve seen in recent years was…
When one sees so many exhibitions, there are few that touch us so deeply that we remember them for years to come. The Pacific Standard Time Exhibition at the Getty Museum, Porportio at the Fortuny Museum, the inaugural exhibition of the Carmignac Foundation on the Island of Pocquerolles, and the Punta Della Dogana, the permanent collections of the Met, the Louvre, and the Musée d’Orsay also provide endless discoveries. Axel Vervoordt Gallery in Wijnegem, Belgium, is maybe the best gallery exhibtion and gallery-owned space I have ever seen.
4) I am inspired when…
I am in the present moment and seeing all of life’s beauty everywhere. I am inspired when I hear the stories behind artists’ works and how their impassioned souls are translated into the visual. Also when I am in nature – listening, smelling, seeing, feeling.
5) An object I would never part with is…
Georges.
6) My style icon is…
Everyone and noone.
7) The favourite thing about my career is…
Connecting with people.
8) If I weren’t doing what I do now, I would be…
Writing about the lives of artists and painting.
9) The best gift or experience that I was given was…
Hardships and challenges.
10) If I could invite any 5 guests to dinner, I would invite…
If living or dead, and with an idea that this could be an interesting conversation: Richard Feynman, David Hockney, Paramahansa Yogananda, Emilie du Chatelet, and Marina Abramovic.
