Chewing Gum VI
WHAT
This sixth edition in the exhibition series, which premiered in 2015, presents dialogues in paintings, sculptures, and photographs completed between the early 2000s and today. The series itself is meant to showcase the vast international talent of the gallery and explores the way that globalisation can dissolve cultural differences and introduce new interpretations of art.
WHY
Each person in society disseminates, or chews up, ideas in a different way – hence ‘Chewing Gum’. The concept present in all editions of the exhibition series infers that the ideas in our world are chewed up by different people – each person experiencing a different version of the idea. Therefore, each work done by the diverse artists communicates across cultures and offers a new perspective to be shown to the audience.
