Thread Routes
WHAT
Almost 30 years after the passing of Italian artist, Alighiero Boetti (1940-1994), the gallery’s current group exhibition is dedicated to one of Boetti’s most cherished artistic mediums – textile. The showcase brings together contemporary artists from diverse backgrounds, fostering a dialogue that defies the confines of time, space, and artistic styles. Textile is the centrepiece, and serves as both subject and object. The exhibition in Hong Kong takes place simultaneously with, and forms a 2-part presentation with the gallery’s London venue.
WHY
The exhibition(s) honours Alighiero Boetti’s love for textiles and features contemporary artists from diverse backgrounds. Through weaving threads, the show aims to unravel each artist’s narratives and personal stories while intertwining cultures and traditions. It pays homage to the timeless tradition of textiles and invites audiences to contemplate the threads that have woven our collective identity.
