Zhao Zhao: A Long Day
WHAT
The Chinese contemporary artist is considered an important figure in the younger generation of post-1980 contemporary art. His works are often associated with anti-authoritarian or non-traditional tendencies, and are known for confronting existing ideological structures and exercising the power of individual free in his works. In this exhibition, which takes ‘A Long Day’ as its temporal cue, curator Cui Cancan has selected 82 of the most important works/sets from the artist’s artistic career spanning from 2006, including paintings, installations, sculptures, and studies of ancient cultures.
WHY
Time, space and epochal topics constantly explored by the artist are linked together in the exhibition, giving you a glimpse into the artist’s provocative artistic ideas, novel approaches to creation, and breaking the impossible boundary! The thoughtful exhibition is a symphonic dialogue between past and present, East and West, which delves deeper into traditional cultural essence in today’s world – it’s a look at Chinese historical tradition, reconnected across time and space!
