Yoshitomo Nara

March 5, 2022 - January 2, 2023

WHAT
This exhibition is a first in many different and significant ways for the internationally-acclaimed Japanese artist, best known for depicting the now-iconic ‘Nara girl’. The first being that it is his first solo exhibition in Mainland China; the second being that it is his first international retrospective exhibition. Organised with the aid of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the exhibition features over 70 major works in multiple mediums from paintings, sculptures, installations, ceramics, and more. The presentation spans almost four decades of creative work, and showcases many stages of his prolific career.

WHY
Nara’s retrospective is great for those who are fans of his, allowing them to see how he has evolved throughout his almost four-decade career. Along with the major works on display, the exhibition also contains never-before-displayed sketches that will definitely be a treat for fans of his. The exhibition, however, isn’t exclusive to only his fans. It is equally well-suited for anyone who is interested in the creative process of an international artist and to see how it has evolved over time. A must-see for everyone.
