WHAT
The human figure has been a central motif in painting for millennia, with each element contributing to a complex narrative that reveals psychological undertones, character traits, social status, fashion, social context, and historical background. This exhibition presents a collection of 56 figure and portrait paintings from the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum, showcasing the various forms, developments, and evolution of portraiture in Western art history. Divided into four sections, ‘Divinity,’ ‘Majesty,’ ‘Woman,’ and ‘Diversity,’ the exhibition features works by renowned artists van Dyck, Delacroix, Klimt, and Andy Warhol, just to name a few.
