Throbbing Soul

November 30, 2023 - December 23, 2023

WHAT
The solo exhibition by the Hong Kong artist is an emotive exploration of place memory, a concept intrinsically tied to social displacement, environmental psychology, and notions of placelessness. With a focus on urban objects and architectural landmarks, such as the soon-to-be obsolete public telephone booth, she narrates stories of their existence and echoes of their past. Her paintings treat objects in urban environments as mediums through time, communicating both tangible and intangible aspects of our society’s culture.

WHY
The artist reflects her personal experiences and emotions, inviting viewers to engage with her works on a personal level. Her paintings emphasise the visceral and emotional qualities of memory, encouraging a form of viewing that is personal, relevant, and open to negotiated meaning in an increasingly prescriptive educational world.
