Things, Spaces, Interactions
WHAT
M+’s exhibition contains over 500 pieces, covering a multitude of different creative genres encompassing furniture design, architecture, and graphic design. The purpose is to showcase the variety of objects within these genres that have been impactful in Asia and around the world over the past century. Curators Ikko Yokoyama and Shirley Surya planned the exhibit in a way to portray how design moves across borders and is shaped by transnational exchange.
WHY
The exhibition highlights the globalisation of the world, and examines the interactions across cultures and regions. Through the various objects, viewers get a chance to see how the social and economic changes over the past century throughout the world have influenced design and architectural ideas, and how these intangible changes are immortalised through tangible objects.
