The Other Side
WHAT
The exhibition showcases works from eight young female artists, each bringing a unique life view to a physical fruition through exploring various media and materials. Though each artist uses different mediums, they all share a common inspiration from observing daily lives and nature. For example, while one artist (Bao) creates scenes with both human and animal characters that reflect on the daily life in Hong Kong, another (Hui) uses daily necessities blended with traditional Chinese craft.
WHY
Each artist uses a different style or approach, but they all capture their surroundings through their works, with all of the works showing a breakthrough of self-consciousness. The exhibition shows the process of heterotopia – a concept that mirrors surroundings while slightly upsetting the truth. In other words, it showcases daily life through different mediums – allowing audiences to see many perspectives and possibilities.
