WHAT
For her first solo exhibition in China, and the fourth with the gallery, the American artist revisits the history of still life to reframe female corporeal representation. Her arresting and often humorous images combine the visual language of modern art with everyday realities of contemporary womanhood. Reminiscent of the great modern masters such as Matisse, Picasso, Hopper, her works make you look twice, and then again.

WHY
The artworks are rendered with the saturated palette of Impressionism and sharp contours of Cubism, focussing on quietly charged, domestic scenes. Still life has always been important to the artist, who imbues common objects with drama and meaning, allowing them to convey emotion and to project psychological references.
